Well that's all good, this build being for Warrior Monks and all.

Oops! Fell asleep on the couch before I finished typing, sorry. You've gotta hit Dolyak Sig once you've gotten the Hydras aggroed. The armor + staying on your feet is critical for surviving. Keep Dolyak and Watch Yourself active at all times while fighting, paying close attention to the 2 seconds of downtime for DS. That small window can get you killed if you're not careful. Cast Vigorous Spirit when necessary, and cast Shield of Judgement when you get as many enemies in melee range as possible. Usually you won't be able to get more than 4 at a time in melee range because of their wide bodies (damn I miss AoE), but SoJ won't do you a lick of good if they're not pecking at you. You'll appreciate its efficiency whenyou see it in action.

My w/e sword-using griffon farmer farms pretty much as well as anything, but I guess i'll switch tactics after i finish capping the last 3 ele elites.

I tried to farm hydras. Dont know if it was my luck. got tired of doing griffons and all that so i went out the other way. Took on a decent group of hydras. No problem fighting them. Just they dropped crap or nothing f or me. I took at least 5 and got maybe 2 pickups. Just my bad luck or is it usualy better than that

My builds are for zone-clearing. I'm not much for the lather-rinse-repeat Griffon run. If you notice my screenshot, I had trophies from devourers, Minotaurs, Sand Elementals, Sand Drakes, and was even starting to take on Scarabs more than I used to. I like(d) to go out in a zone and wax just about everything from one end to the other. So when I refer to good drops, it's from my perspective of killing alll the 30+ Hydras in Skyward Reach before re-zoning. You'll probably get more goodies in less time with Griffons, but that's because of their proximity to the town and their concentration of numbers in a small area. I just prefer to fight Hydras. This build works fine with Griffons and Minotaurs too, I just don't hunt them that often.
Let me add a few things while I'm on. Someone who read this PM'ed me in-game and we went hunting together yesterday. It was cool, and he had fun and was happy to see how it was done. It never crossed my mind before then that not everybody in the desert is going to have Droknar's armor and Shield of Judgement.
At the very least, you should have desert collector's armor. It's 80AL and will serve you well until you get to the Forge and can afford the Wyvern / Knights combo. It's also cheap to get. 5 of this, 5 of that, find the collectors... I don't believe the guy I was helping yesterday had that high armor yet because he was taking as much damage from 1 Hydra as I was from 4. It's worth the time and trouble to get the collector's armor.
Shield of Judgement is a hard cap. Getting to it and capping it is a chore. Conversely, you can cap Gladiator's Defense directly after beating all the desert missions and ascending. It's not as effective, but will still help considerably. Just put your points into Tactics instead of Smiting to get the full 10 seconds of Gladiator's. And use either an axe grip of defense +5 or warding +7 until you actually have SoJ and need longer enchant times. Either of those will noticably further reduce the damage from the fire spells.
There are 2 collectors outside of Serenity Temple (one's close by, one's a little walk) who sell 6-16 req. 3 axes. One of them has a 10% fast skill recharge rate. It used to be 15%, which would have been even better. Its penalty is -10 armor when attacking. I haven't bought one to experiment with yet, but I did get and mod one of the other "plain" ones to lower my Axe Mastery and beef up Smiting. The guaranteed damage from Shield of Judgement will far outweigh the potential 12 extra points from a max axe.

lol. KVNDOOM I LOVE U. build is really good, and i still cant beleive teh big ass fuss over the aoe nerf... just boost up sheild and ur good to go. BTW. this is a very very good warrior/monk solo build. but if i may suggest a m/me which would have a much much bigger effect. The bacis 55 build, but take out 2 spells (non important ones) and slap in arcane echo and sheild of judgement. take down groups much faster .

Sweet! I somehow expect Spiteful Spirit to receive the same "treatment" as Zealot's Fire pretty soon, mainly because it's being used in the UW duo builds. But I like to see creativity and other ways to make it work. Great job! What other W/x builds are people having success with?

I use spitefull spirte on a 55 monk and along with life shpion cast on mutipler ppl and some other skills you can take out all the old stuff. Only thing you have to watch out when doing UW is to make sure the aataxe don't intrupt u, and make sure u cast spitefull of the darkness before they get to u.

The next round of AI 'improvements' will likely make mobs stop attacking/casting when hexed with SS/Backfire/...
Here's a W/E build. Nothing like +105 armor to take the edge off
12 Earth
11 Strength
12 Tactics

New build today: The Lawnmower Woman:
The most important thing about my enchants is that they require no attribute points in any monk skills to be effective. +2 regen (+1 with the axe I'm using, but still enough), +1 energy per enemy attack, no matter what. That leaves the Warrior stats free to be buffed.
No Gladiator's Defense? Yup, that's right. You can substitute Gladiator's for Flourish if you want to, but when I had it, I found I really wasn't using it at all. Against griffs and minotaurs it would be the better Elite, probably. An axe grip of +5 defense would be more universal than a +7 Warding, but I wanted to minimize the fire damage. With Dolyak and WY up, it's down to 16 per meteor / fireball. Quite manageable. No lie, I almost never healed at all, regardless of the size of the group. In fact, I'd probably do better with Endure Pain than heal sig, because 200+ instant HP will get me out of a pinch long enough to finish a tough mob.
But Flourish means you can deal some serious pain quickly. Desperation Blow - Cyclone - Flourish - Desperation Blow - Cyclone, all in a few seconds. And you can get in another Cyclone, and by that time Flourish and DB are almost ready again. I call this "Lawnmower" for a reason. You really have to try it and see it to appreciate it. It kills REALLY fast. Especially when DB lands a deep wound or bleeding. 25% of the time it's as good as Eviscerate and doesn't take up an elite spot. Works for me...
Of course, you can substitute DB with Power Attack or pretty much any non-adrenaline melee attack. I just like DB because of the possibility of deep wound or bleeding.
